With her infectious smile and generous spirit, Maria Faye Cruz-Markee brought endless warmth and joy to everyone she met. Born on September 16, 1964 in Iloilo City, Philippines, to Delfin Cruz Sr. and Cecilia Alcoriza Cruz, Maria lived a life deeply rooted in love, generosity, and devotion. As a cherished mother, sister, and daughter, she was a true friend to all—always opening her doors and making sure no one ever left with an empty stomach.
Maria brought a vibrant energy wherever she went that made people feel instantly welcome. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel loved, included and like they belonged. Her positive energy was unmatched, and you could always count on her signature, funky dance moves to bring laughter and life to any gathering. While she found joy in so many parts of the world, four things held a truly sacred place in her heart: a refreshing cup of iced Coke, cheering on her beloved New England Patriots, her treasured family, and above all, her three beautiful children.
Though the world became less bright when she passed on September 21, 2026, just a few days after celebrating her 62nd birthday, Maria’s warmth and spirit live on through the family and friends who loved her. She is survived by her three children and their partners, John Theodore Tubera (John McCarthy), Amanda Nicole Markee (Evan Baron), and Joshua Daniel Markee (Kayla Blum). She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Susana Cruz Quintana, Delfin Cruz Jr. (Rosario Cruz), Rodelio Cruz (Marilyn Vallejos Cruz), Maria Cruz Landro (Fred Landro), Maria Cruz Gaddy, Mary Anne Cruz, and Paulette Cruz Orozco (Luis Orozco). Her legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and family will continue through each of them and through everyone whose life she touched.
Today, we beautifully honor the incredible life and lasting legacy of Maria Faye Cruz-Markee—our wonderful Pepot, Tita Peng, Loompia Momma, and simply: Mom.
