

Visitation for Marjorie will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel, followed by a service at 12:30 PM.
Marjorie Hiura celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 5, 2024. She peacefully passed away at home on Nov. 25, 2024. Marge was preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert (Etta) Chun and by her husband of 40 years, Colbert Hiura. Marge was born in Honolulu, to Hyung Koon and Nancy Sabah Chun. She spent her early youth in San Diego. After the family returned to Hawaii, she attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1941. After business school Marge worked for a brief period at Pearl Harbor. A homemaker most of her adult life, when widowed, Marge was resilient, and independent. Family, friends, and dozens of charities benefited from her years-long generosity. Marge was a self-taught seamstress, with a fine sense of style. She was an avid reader and prolific writer - constantly writing letters, cards, notes, journals. Marge also will be remembered for a quick wit, love of words, and as a skilled poker player. She is survived by her children - Laraine, Craig, and Brian (Susan Hodge) Hong; grandchildren, Melia and Kory Hong; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Laurie (Walter) McEnery, Pamela (Daniel) Wilt, and Nathan Chun; Liane (Steve) Freitas; Laura (Alfred) Woods, Steve (Lesa) and Stacey Fukuchi.
