Roy Hajime Hamada of Honolulu passed away on April 23, 2026 at the age of 91 at Queen’s Medical Center. He was born in Hilo on September 13, 1934. He worked at the Star-Bulletin, Hawaii Newspaper Agency and Gannett Co. before it became the Star-Adveriser. A graduate of the University of Hawaii, Roy was a livelong supporter of UH sports program and a member of Koa Anuenue. He especially enjoyed attending football, basketball and men’s and women’s volleyball games. He is survived by brother Howard Hamada and nephew Kris Hamada and brother Herbert Hamada.
