I am so sorry and shocked to have found this news about dear Vernon.  We knew each other in High School, but became friends on Classmates,com a few years ago.  We chatted about Papakolea and Moreira St., which was where my grandparents lived before Hawaiian Homestead.
He was so happy to have put together an 80th birthday class reunion and so unfortunate that he got injured and couldn't even come.  You, his family, were so great about stepping into those shoes and making it happen. I was glad to have seen y'all.
Vernon was always sweet and caring, I  will miss our chats. My last e-mail to him was not answered and now I know why.
God bless all of you.  I know your dad, and grandpa will terribly be missed, but he was so proud of all of you.  I'm in Texas, so unfortunately cannot attend the services. Blessings and love to all of you.
