He was born in California, raised in Canada, and retired in Aiea, Hawaii after 30 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He had enlisted as an air gunner during WWII and retired as a commander naval aviator after serving in Korea and Vietnam.
Survived by wife Maureen and her children, Jacqui, Penny, Carla, John and Crystal, plus 5 grandchildren. Also survived by daughter Mary Kreck-Soucie and her husband Michael of Kapolei, daughter Shelley Kreck of San Diego, son Gordon Kreck and his wife Wendy, son Mike Kreck and his wife Vicki-Jo. Also four grandchildren, Ryan, Lance, Tiffany and Valen, five great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Baecca, Bryson, Emery, and Henley, on the mainland.
Burial to be held at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
