Alice Cope Black

Alice was born in Cumberland County on May 15, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Preston and Bettie Cope. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Ken Black, and her brother, Robert P. Cope, who preceded her by just 35 days on March 6, 2025.

Alice graduated from Hope Mills High School in 1958. She worked for the Cumberland County Health Department for over 30 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her sister Laura C. McIntosh (Larry) of Hope Mills; niece Dawn Gillis (Robert) and nephew Doug McIntosh (Kay), both of Fayetteville; niece Rhonda Washburn (Frank) of Oak Grove, MN; nephew Robert J. Cope of Millington, MI; and a grandson, Brandon Black.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills. The family will receive friends before the service at 1:00 p.m.

Alice enjoyed planning and nurturing her potted plants during the summertime. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
