Berta Frances Vann

Berta Frances “Frankie” Carroll Vann, age 66 of Henry Vann Farm Road, Clinton N.C. died Tuesday evening, March 15th, 2022 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab.

Mrs. Vann was born November 22, 1955 in Harnett County to the late Kermit Eldridge Carroll and Mary Emma Carroll. She was a graduate of Campbell University receiving her B.S. in Earth Science and Masters in Education. She retired from the Sampson County School System with 30 years of service. She was an active member of Mingo Baptist Church and Sharon Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Frankie was a loving wife, mother, sister and daughter. She was a mentor to many, having a passion for science, space and meteorology. She loved her Duke Blue Devils and was always happy to volunteer when needed, frequently donating blood. She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. You could find her many days riding the roads with her dog, Roxy.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Doug and Gary Carroll and sister Brenda Wrench.

She is survived by her husband Sammy W. Vann of the home and daughters Christie Vann and her husband Chad Merrell of Raleigh, N.C. and Cheri Grimes and her husband Ashley Grimes of Faison, N.C. She is also survived by a brother Mack Bullard & (wife) Gale of Wade, N.C.; sisters Sandra Faye Carroll & (husband) Ricky Naylor of Mingo Community, N.C., Judy Bullard of Fayetteville, N.C.; brother-in-law Leslie Wrench; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Roxy.

The family deeply appreciates the staff at Harnett Woods for all the care and love they gave to Frankie.
