On Tuesday, July 7, 2020 Carolyn L. Oxendine, beautiful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother slipped the bonds of this life and stepped into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 71. Carolyn was born on September 20, 1948 in Moorehead City, NC. Her family later moved to Red Springs, NC where she worked on the family farm, helped care for her siblings and went to school. Upon graduation from high school, she married her beloved, Frank and spent the next 51 years on a grand adventure with her sweetheart. Frank preceded her in death in March of 2019. Carol was the loving mother of daughter, Denise Lynn and son, Frankie Alan.
Though it was Frank who was in the Army, Carol served her country in the role of Army Wife. Through military separations, relocations and whatever Uncle Sam had in store, Carolyn embodied the Army values and honored God, her husband, and her country in this role. Carolyn obtained her LPN license and worked as a nurse at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, the Fayetteville Kidney Center and at the local military clinic when they were stationed in Germany.
Carolyn was fondly referred to as ‘Little Bit’, and though she may have been short in stature she was mighty in presence. She had a quick smile, a quick comeback and to hear her son tell, occasionally, a quick backhand. She was known by many to be caring and generous with her time and her resources. Carolyn was always there for her parents and siblings and was often the one called when someone needed help or simply wanted to talk.
She will be missed greatly by those she left behind, however, our hearts rejoice that she is now in the presence of her Savior and strolling the streets of Heaven with the love of her life, Frank.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Denise (Bryan), son Frankie (Autumn), grandchildren Frankie Alan and Cheyenne Nicole, great grandchildren Serenity, Orion (deceased) and Luna (due in August), and siblings Doris, Anna, Delrose, Elaine, Wesley and Jesse and many other loving family members.
