Youngest child of the late Jimmy C. Goff and Lillian T. Goff, Charles was born in Saluda, South Carolina. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Virginia Steadman, Lamond Goff, Richard Goff and James Goff. Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara McGee Goff; sons Richard Keith Goff and Charles Ashley Goff and his wife Katherine; two beloved granddaughters, Ashley Taylor Goff and Laurel Leigh Goff; along with many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Hollywood High School, Charles married his high school sweetheart and moved to Fayetteville in 1967. After more than 20 years with Unilever, he retired in 2005. Charles was an avid fisherman who, when he wasn’t spending the day on the water, would enjoy spending time telling fishing tales with his family and friends. He had a love for old cars, especially convertibles, and was a fan of western movies.
Active in many organizations, Charles served as president of the Hope Mills Shrine Club, where he was named Shriner of the Year in 2005 and 2008. In addition, he was a Master Mason in Lebanon Lodge 391, the Sudan Convertibles, Royal Order of the Jesters 45, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 227. In 2000, he was named Mason of the Year and repeated the honor in 2007.
The family will receive friends at Reeves Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 23. Funeral services be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 24, at Reeves Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic rites. Burial will be Tuesday, May 25, at 1 p.m. at Travis Park Cemetery in Saluda, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
