

Charles, also known as “Top” to his military brothers, served in Vietnam. After 27 years of dedication to our country, he retired from Ft. Bragg as Sergeant Major.
Charles was very active in his community. He was a member of The Hope Mills Shrine Club, where he was honored to become a member of The Royal Order of Jesters, Masonic Lodge #391, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and the Sudan Convertibles. Charles and Ruby were both longtime members of St. Matthews Methodist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Sylvanus and Thelma Lucas and his siblings, Joe Lucas, and Sylvia Lucas.
Charles is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruby Lucas. He also leaves behind his children Angela Pugh (Paul), Debra Simpson (Mike), Renee Ernst (Phil), and Cindee Harrington (Bill); his grandchildren, Brenna Crosser (Bob), Ashlee Hooks (Tommy), Jarrett Harrington, Lucas Harrington, Alexander Simpson, Victoria Simpson, Chase Ernst, Amanda Ernst, and Ashley Victoria Ernst; his great grandchildren, Anslee Hooks, Thomas Hooks, and Carson Hooks; and his siblings, Helen Craft, Aubrey Lucas, and Nickie Lucas.
Charles's family will accept friends on Tuesday November 30, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Reeves Funeral Home.
