They leave behind their loving family of four children: Joseph Lee, Timothy Owen (Dixie), Karen Burgess, and Lorrie Lewis (Joe); six grandchildren: Tony Burgess (Dina), Kellie Watson (Chance), Sherry Burgess (Daniel), Carlie Lewis, Shanna Burgess (Matt), and Austin Davis; and four great-grandchildren: Ashlin-Paige Burgess, Kenlie Watson, Jacob Burgess, and Luke Puczylowski. Mr. Clarence Carter, who retired from A&P Grocery after 37 years of service, was also a distinguished World War II Veteran; Mrs. Mabel Carter was employed by Roses Department Store for many years, where she was cherished for her dedication and warmth. Mr. and Mrs. Carter also had a deep love for the Lord, and enjoyed spreading the Word of God; they were beloved members of the Lafayette Baptist Church, where their humbleness, hardworking attitude, and caring demeanor endeared them to everyone they met.
