Doris Stone Mohler, age 62, extraordinary wife and mother, passed away in the early hours of September 5th after a courageous battle with cancer. Doris was born in Erwin North Carolina, but spent most of her life living in Fayetteville North Carolina. Doris married her husband, James Mohler, in 1982 and over almost 41 years created and shared a magnitude of special memories. Together they raised two daughters, Jenni and Allison, who were her pride and joy.
Doris was best known for her passion for helping others in need. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Operation InAsMuch, the Backpack Buddies Ministry, and countless other missions.
In her free time, Doris loved gardening, cooking a delicious meal for a loved one, and playing cards. She traveled often to spend time with her family, and never missed a grand babies event or important day. Doris loved the beach and the water, and especially loved fishing. Most importantly, Doris loved making other people feel special and wanted. She loved openly and freely without judgement, and truly showed others the love of Christ.
Doris is survived by her husband, James Mohler, her sister and best friend, Carol Wann, her brother, Danny Stone, her daughters, Jenni Mohler Lane and Allison Mohler, three granddaughters, Elizabeth Lane, Amelia Lane, and Josephine Lane, her “boys” who she loved as her own, Corey Lane and Tyler Reese, and countless nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honor the amazing life of Doris on September 16th at 11:00am at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Greys Creek. A potluck will follow in the Congregation hall - any and all are welcome. Please wear the color Red as it was Doris’ favorite color.
In the true Doris fashion, she asked instead of sending flowers, please make a donation to the Backpack Buddies Ministry in loving memory of her wonderful life.
