He was born and reared in Sampson County. Mr. Parker was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Salemburg. He worked for the Kelly-Springfield/Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 29 years and retired early at age 56.
He was preceded in death by his father, Simpson Parker; his mother, Mattie Parker; his sister, Sally Parker Goodrich; and his brothers, Delmus Parker and M.J. Parker.
Left to cherish his memories are his sisters, Margaret Gallagher and Rena Bradshaw, both of Clinton; children, Veronica Fulton, Delmus Parker and Jeri Parker; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills, with Chaplain Tim Gore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Wake County Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607-6372.
