Helen Stanford, 86 years old, after sharing her love of family & friends with an open heart (and plenty of food), it was the Lord's will that she be called home on Wednesday, September 21st. As the evening hours fell on that 1st day of autumn, her journey here ended as angels reached through the clouds and took her into his arms.

Stanford and accompanying him back to the US, where they shared 44 years of marriage while stationed at many different army base locations before finally settling down in Hope Mills to call it home. Through Helen's 1st years in the states she was a strong and proud woman and truly wanted to become a US citizen, which she did in honor of her new country.
Helen has been a loving and nurturing mother to her four children, John A. Stanford of Durham, NC, Richard Stanford residing in Christiansburg, VA, Edward (aka Ed / Eddie) Stanford of Kingsport, TN, and her daughter, Susan (Suzie) Stanford Oglesby from Durham. She is also survived by 6 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter and her newest great grandson, just born on the 15th.
