James Arnold, 81, was born on February 10, 1945, and passed away on September 22, 2026. A man of steady independence and tireless work ethic, James lived with a quiet strength that was matched by a kind heart and an unwavering commitment to honesty. He will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
James served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years of faithful service. His dedication and skill continued in his civilian career as an aircraft mechanic for Lockheed Martin, work that reflected both his diligence and the pride he took in doing things the right way. He was also a member of the VFW.
James married Mary Ramage on June 9, 1966, and together they were blessed with four children. The military sent them all over the world before they finally settled in Hope Mills, NC in 1975.
James enjoyed watching wrestling and loved attending car shows, especially those featuring antique cars. Still, it was in the simple gift of time with family that he was happiest, offering his steady presence, his care, and his devotion in ways that will not be forgotten.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Arnold; his second wife, Barbara Arnold; his daughter, Theresa Andrews; his grandson, Matthew Arnold; as well as seven of his siblings.
James is survived by his children, James Arnold Jr (Donna Stanton), Marian Carter (Timothy), and Bill Arnold (Nikki Cruz); his grandchildren, Jacki, Anthony, Chad, Elizabeth, Siy, Tim Jr., Keindelyn, Callie, Isabella, and Brylee; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his sister, Peggy Williams (Ormond); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation with Family & Friends will be held at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N Main St, Hope Mills, North Carolina 28348, on September 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at Reeves Funeral Home on September 25, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, North Carolina, on September 25, 2026.
