John’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, sitting in his recliner, enjoying football games, watching movies, and the evening news. He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and never missed a game. He was happiest when spending time with family-especially cooking out with his children, grandchildren, and parents. John spent the majority of his career in the fire service - becoming one of the youngest fire chiefs in North Carolina.
John is preceded in death by his brother, Timothy House.
He is survived by his children, Kelsey Bigler, Madison Smith and her husband Christopher, Cassidy Bigler, and Wyatt Bigler; his grandchildren, Carter Smith and Abigail Smith; his parents, Jim and Pam Bigler; his sister, Kelli Maldonado; the mother of two of his children, Kelly Austin, who took care of him in his final months; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held be held at the Social Hall of St. Michael's Church 806 Arsenal Avenue, NC 28305 on Saturday April 20, 2024 from 1:00 om until 3:00 pm.
