He was born July 28, 1933 in Cumberland County to the late John W. Blake and Anna Mae Spence Blake.
Mr. Blake was well known for his collection of antique cars. As a hobby, he restored and collected many. He was also an avid gardener, master craftsman, and wildlife enthusiast. He was a well-loved and well-respected man.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Jackson Blake; his loving and devoted children, Willie Blake and wife Martha of Fayetteville, Holly Blake Rice and husband Clayton of Dalton, GA, Jay Blake and wife Kim of Atlanta, GA, Jeff Blake and friend, Vicki Sands of Hillsboro, Heidi Blake Maly and husband Pete of Fayetteville, and Jenny Blake Clabo and husband Mike of Hope Mills; sister, Ruth Blake Barr of Hope Mills; 25 grand and great-grandchildren; and special niece, Marianna Calhoun and husband Michael.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Reeves Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Hope Mills United Methodist Church with Dr. Dennis Sheppard and Chaplain Sam Harvin officiating.
He will be laid to rest in Hope Mills Cemetery with the rendering of military honors.
