Joram "JE" Norket Jr.

Joram Norket Jr., lovingly known as "JE", 91, passed away on August 4, 2026. Born on July 14, 1935, he grew up in Wade, North Carolina, where his steady devotion to home and community was evident early on. As a member of the 4H Club, he earned awards for raising cows and growing corn, and he also enjoyed playing softball—pursuits that reflected a thoughtful diligence and a genuine appreciation for the simple, good work of each day.

A faithful servant to his country, Joram served in the United States Air Force for four years. He later dedicated more than 37 years to the telecommunications industry, building a long and honorable career marked by reliability, careful attention, and the quiet pride that comes from work done well.

Joram’s life was deeply rooted in faith. He was very involved in church and devoted himself to studying the Bible, a practice that shaped his days and guided his decisions. With a thoughtful spirit and a steady commitment to what he believed, he taught adults about the Bible and Christianity, offering his time and knowledge with sincerity and care.

In addition to his faith and work, Joram found joy in the rhythms of the land—liking to farm, tending to flowers, and taking interest in any sports. These everyday pleasures reflected a life lived with gratitude, purpose, and a calm attentiveness to the world around him.

Joram was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Norket, and his son, Rocky Norket. He is survived by his children, Kelvin Norkett, Darryl Norkett and his wife Sheila; his grandchildren, Alex Norkett and John David Norkett and his wife, Crystal; his great grandchildren, John David Norkett Jr., Bentley Lane Norkett, and Hannah Jo Norkett; as well as other relatives and friends.

Visitation with Family & Friends will be held at Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness, 5648 Eason Rd, Wade, NC 28395, on August 10, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5648 Eason Rd, Wade, NC 28395, on August 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at Old Bluff Cemetery in Godwin, NC, on August 10, 2026.

Joram will be remembered as a godly, honest, compassionate, and hard-working man—faithful in his commitments, devoted to those he loved, and thoughtful in the way he lived and served.
