

Louise Arlene Cowell, age 70, passed away Saturday, January 21, at her home in Parkton, North Carolina. She was a 1959 graduate of Northeast Bradford High School and a 1963 graduate of Keystone Junior College.
Her entire professional career was with the federal government in Washington, DC, where she worked with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon, and later with FEMA until her retirement in 1996. During her career with the federal government she received many commendations for her dedication, professionalism, and achievements.
She is survived by her sister, Fay Jones of Parkton, North Carolina, her brother, James Cowell and his wife Marlene of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by four nieces, Cindy Florez of St. Paul's, NC; Amy Grim-Webster of Parkton, NC; Jody Banks of Fayetteville, NC; Alisa Mendenhall of San Diego, CA; and three nephews, Robert Jones of Catalua, GA; Jeffery Jones of Cameron, NC, and Ryan Cowell of San Marcos, CA. Other survivors include 13 great-nieces, 12 great-nephews, and 5 great-great nephews.
Family and friends will be received at 7PM to 9PM Tuesday, January 24, and a memorial service will be held the next day, Wednesday, January 25, at 11:30 AM at the Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 North Main Street, Hope Mills, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
