Mary Alene Strickland

Ms. Strickland was born on April 19, 1921 in Durham County the daughter of the late Will Addison & Bessie Nelson Addison. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bud” Strickland; sons, Doug Strickland & Liston Strickland, a grandson Terry Page and 2 Great Grandsons, Cullen Parker & Preston Wood. She was also preceded in death by her 6 brothers & sisters.

She was a member of The Church of God in East Erwin. She was a seamstress and worked in Erwin Mills and Bonders. She loved to sew and made frilly dresses for little

Girls. She loved to cook and planned her Sunday lunch from one week to the next usually feeding up to 30 people. She was a caregiver her whole life to her family in many ways.

Ms. Mary Alene Strickland, age 96, of Erwin died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Cornerstone Nursing & Rehab in Dunn.

Ms. Strickland was born on April 19, 1921 in Durham County the daughter of the late Will Addison & Bessie Nelson Addison. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Klass & Rev. Ricky Manning officiating. There will be a private burial on Friday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Erwin Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, one hour prior to the funeral.
