Michael R. “Bit” Lucas of Green Path Road in Dunn departed this life on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was 59 years old. Bit was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lucas, and his grandparents, Lonie and Walter Suggs.
Bit graduated from Erwin High School in 1976. He previously worked as a car detailer for Barefoot’s Auto Mart and as a plumber for Robert M. Ammons Plumbing Company. Bit was a simple, easy-going man whose favorite times were spent with a fishing rod in his hand. He truly believed a bad day fishing was better than a great day working.
Bit is survived by his loving mother, Thelma Lucas of Dunn; brothers, Kenneth J. Lucas (Sharon) of Crumpler and Jimmy Lucas (Faye) of Wade; a sister, Cathy Ammons of Dunn; nephews, Brandon Lucas of Bristol, Virginia, Bradley Lucas of Crumpler, Stephen Lucas of Eastover, Jacob Morrison of Dunn and Tristin Grantham of Sanford; nieces, Lori Grantham of Dunn, Kim Ammons of Dunn, Tammy Stoeckley of Fuquay and Haley Grantham of Dunn; and his special friend, Marshelle Dalton of Dunn.
The family will receive friends at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. A funeral service officiated by Reverend Jerome Edwards will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friends will be received at other times at the home of Cathy Ammons. The burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Erwin Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are Tristin Grantham, Jacob Morrison, Brandon Lucas, Bradley Lucas, Timmy Grantham, Jerry Stone and “John Boy” Dixon.
