Nicholas Aaron Pope, age 32, passed away on Thursday, November 8th, 2018. He was born August 25th, 1986 at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, Germany. Nick spent his first years in Fountain, Colorado before moving to Parkton, NC at the age of 3. He later moved to Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen Germany, where he attended 2nd and 3rd grades before returning to Parkton, where he always called home.
Nick attended Parkton Elementary School and graduated from St. Pauls High School in 2004. He then went on to earn his Associates degree in Welding Technology from Bladen Community College. Nick enjoyed a career as a welder for General Refrigeration, doing pipe welding, cutting, and fabrication.
Nick loved all things family. He loved being a husband and daddy, family gatherings, pig pickings, and sitting around bonfires with friends. Nick took pride in being a southern man and living a simple life: fishing, shooting, raising chickens, and riding around town in his pick-up truck with his dog, Mary Jane. The rebel flag was a symbol of his southern pride and the things he held dear. Nick enjoyed welding and being creative, building several pig cookers, a stainless steel still, and even a special windchime for his mom.
Nick is survived by his wife Maegan Shaw Pope of the home, children Louis (LJ), Layla, Austin, Katelyn, Nathan, and Caroline, parents Dave and Nina Pope of Parkton, sisters Melissa of Tampa and Melody of Fayetteville, and brother Chris and his wife Elizabeth of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be held at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N. Main Street, Hope Mills, NC on Thursday, November 15th at 5:00 PM followed by a service at 7:00 PM.
