

Ms. Suggs was born July 3, 1939 in Cumberland County the daughter of the late James Crawford Goode and Pearl Lockamy Goode and is preceded in death by her first husband, Garland H.”Sonny” Godwin and second husband, Donald Ray Suggs, Sr. She is also preceded in death by a son, James Kenneth Godwin, Sr. and grandson, Corey Michael Godwin.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her family was very important to her. She loved people and loved helping others. She was famous for her chocolate pies and was always fixing them to take to other people. She loved having fun and her famous saying was “There is nothing wrong with having good clean fun.”
Peggy graduated from Plain View High School, where she played basketball and was an All Star player and even won the “Athlete of the Year Award.” She also had a green belt in Karate. She worked for Coats Distributors until they closed, staying home was not for Peggy. She then went to work at Captain’s Kitchen Restaurant and then retired from Heath’s Steakhouse where she made the famous Heath’s stuffed potatoes.
She was a member of Erwin Advent Christian Church where she was very active member in all aspects of the church. She loved gospel music and enjoyed going to gospel sings.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Addison officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park.
She is survived by: Two Sons: Sonny Ray Godwin, Sr, and (wife) Sharon of Dunn, NC.
Donald Ray Suggs, Jr, and (wife) Jacqueline of Erwin, NC.
Daughter-in-Law: Darlene Godwin Allen & (husband) Junior Allen of Dunn, NC.
Brother: Billy Goode of Fairmont, NC and Sister: Judy Perkins & (husband) Mark of Kipling, NC.
Grandchildren: James K. “Jay” Godwin, Jr., Alex Godwin, Sonny Ray Godwin, Jr., Christopher Scott Godwin, Joshua Suggs, Logan Suggs and Stormy Suggs.
12 Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn prior to the Funeral.
