Rafael Silvano Rivera Pagan, 82, passed away on July 17, 2026. Born April 2, 1944, in Puerto Rico to Casimiro Rivera and Marcela Pagan, Rafael was the youngest of sixteen children, a beginning that helped shape a life marked by steady effort, quiet strength, and deep commitment to those he loved. He moved to North Carolina in 2020 and resided in Warsaw, North Carolina.
Rafael served in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. In that chapter of his life, his bravery was not a slogan but a lived responsibility—carried with dignity, discipline, and a willingness to do what was asked of him. Those who knew him recognized in him a man who worked hard, showed up faithfully, and met life with resolve.
He was devoted to his family and is survived by his children, six grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will carry forward his memory with gratitude and love.
Rafael found enjoyment in simple, shared pleasures. He enjoyed bowling and other sports—interests that reflected his appreciation for camaraderie, spirited competition, and the everyday moments that bring people together.
He was a member of Ministerio Esperanza de Vida, where his presence and faith community were an important part of his later years.
A Memorial Service will be held at Ministerio Esperanza de Vida, 594 Isham Frederick Road, Magnolia, North Carolina 28453, on July 25, 2026 at 7:00 pm.
In the words of Rafael, “Estoy exageradamente bien y mejorando.”
