Robert Lee Ferguson, Jr, age 75 died peacefully at his home on Friday evening May 18, 2018. Robert was born July 29, 1942 in Clarendon, Monroe Co., Arkansas the son of the late Robert Lee Ferguson. Sr and Dorothy Beatrice Treadway. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Madison J. Lott of CA.
Robert is survived his wife of 55 years Frances Spellings Ferguson their children: Son, Robert Scott Ferguson his wife Stefanie and grandchildren Connor and Sarah; daughter Tracy Ann Fentress and her husband Prescott and grandchildren Emily and Allison; son John David Ferguson and wife Karen and grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, and Katelyn. Brothers David Lee South (Therese) of CA and Donald J. Lott (Monica) of Fayetteville. Laura and Bob Hebert his dear sister & brother in law, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and all his brothers and sisters in arms.
Robert received his BA and MS Degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola; his MD and PhD from The University of Rome, School of Medicine and Surgery in Italy and attended the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base, TX.
Robert was a Pilot, Physician, and Flight Surgeon. A patriot who flew over 220 combat missions in 3 wars with a combined service of 26 years in the U.S. Marines, U.S. Army and Air National Guard where he served as Chief of Aerospace Medicine. He practiced Internal and Urgent Care Medicine in Fayetteville and Hope Mills, NC for 27 years and was the physician for the Hope Mills Fire and Police Department for much of that time.
Robert was an American patriot who loved his Country, the Constitution, his family, friends and God. He was a man of faith, hope, honor, courage and charity. He always said, "Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all." He lived his quest, "The Impossible Dream".
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reeves Funeral Home of Hope Mills, NC. Visitation will be held May 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church , 5050 Oak Street, Hope Mills, NC. Funeral Mass will be May 29 at 12:00 noon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made the Wounded Warriors Project or Paws for Purple Hearts.
