

Mrs. Rosemary Mattheis, 62, of Hope Mills, formerly of Oceanside, Calif., and Jacksonville, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Atlanta. She was born Dec. 7, 1952, to Paul and Dorothy Frye Carter at Camp Atterbury, Ind. She was a 1971 graduate of Jacksonville Senior High School and attended Coastal Carolina Community College.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Steven.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Henry “Red” Mattheis of the home; her children, Carolyn Hodges of Jacksonville and Carl Mattheis of Hope Mills; her sisters, Paula Buckhalter (Myron) of Jacksonville, and Joni Wiggins (John) of Hope Mills; two grandchildren; two aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosemary was born and married into the U.S. Marine Corps family. She loved her country and loved to travel. She was involved in Operation Inasmuch and crocheted countless hats, scarves and washcloths for the homeless. She also crocheted hats for the cancer patients and newborns for Womack Army Medical Center and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Reeves Funeral Home.
A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, in Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation in memory of Christopher Campbell.
