Vela Mae Herring

She was born on May 29, 1928, in Brunswick Counry, to the late Rafael and Chairty Reaves Milliken.

The family received friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Herring; two sons, Lonnie Herring and Fadias Herring; and daughter, Nancy Jane Herring.

She leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Jennie Raymes and her husband Rollin, Diana Flowers and her husband Ricky, Lynette Brock and her husband James, Wanda Allen and her husband Norm, and Deborah Lee and her husband Dwight; son, Tommy Herring and his wife Lynn; sister, Annie Lee Canady; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Herring was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
