

William Langston, 84, passed away June 6, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Roswitha Hermine Langston; his infant son Kurt David; his 2 daughters Sylvia Friend and Brenda Langston; and his grandson Michael Capps.
Left to cherish William’s Memory are his sons William Langston (Rose) and Jimmy Langston (Sabrina); his grandchildren Christina Wood, Autumn Rich (Corry), Angela Coker (John), Joshua Langston (Wendy), Justin Friend, and Ryan Friend; William also leaves behind his 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
William was a veteran who served honorably in the Special Forces unit of the U.S. Army for 21 years. During his time in service, he was also an avid boxer, and he served with distinction in the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart for the injuries he sustained, and a Bronze Star for his heroism. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the City of Fayetteville as a Quality Control Inspector for 20 years.
William loved to hunt and fish, a hobby that he passed onto his children and grandchildren. He was also a tremendous storyteller and was known for lighting up a room with his jokes. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, who cherished and took care of his family.
The service for William Langston will be June 17, 2023 at 12 PM at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills, NC, with a visitation for family and friends at 11 AM, one hour prior to the service. The service will conclude at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, NC with the rendering of military honors.
