Alice Mae Spurlin

Alice was born on June 25, 1933, the daughter of Leroy Bryant and Mae Farr. She married the love of her life, Eugene Earl Spurlin, at age 17 on July 22, 1950. She then became a stay-at-home mother to her children, and a devoted pastor’s wife for 32 years of ministry. It was often recounted how much she enjoyed typing her husband’s notes to prepare for his sermons every Sunday. She was dedicated to serving the Lord through her every endeavor, whether it be spreading the gospel, opening her home as a sanctuary, or attending worship service. Alongside her time at the Spurlin Plant Farm, she worked at Wal-Mart for 30+ years. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting with the Sonshine Circle.

Through Gene’s ministries and her own, Alice came to touch the hearts of countless lives, whom she loved deeply. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Ray Bryant; her sisters, Lorene Cash and Nellie Graves; her son, Jimmy Spurlin; and her daughters, Janie Mays and Barbara Jones.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Spurlin (Teresa); her brother, Billy Bryant (Nancy); her son-in-law, Bruce Jones; her grandchildren, Genia Lance (James), Rebecca Campbell (Sam), Heather Smith (Blake), Rodney Spurlin (Tonya), and Trey Emory (Laura); her great-grandchildren, John David and Richie Browning, Nazaraethe, Heather, Gabriel, and Josiah Campbell, Bailey Meeks (Preston), Cassidy, Nic, Gavin, and Graylon Smith, Abigail, Arabella, and Alyssa Spurlin, Ella and Bobby Emory; her great-great-grandchild, Harper Meeks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. She also leaves her legacy with Terrie Spurlin; the JOY Sunday School Class; her Pallbearers; and her honorary Pallbearers, the Tuesday Morning Crew of CFMBC.

There will be a visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, held at Center Fork Baptist Church located at 1101 South Moore Road, Hot Springs, AR. The graveside service will follow at Spurlin Cemetery, located on Shady Grove Road.
