Annette D. Baldwin, 63, of Hot Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13. The youngest of three, she was born and raised in Michigan to a champion steer wrestling father and a fiercely strong mother.
They moved around much of her childhood before finally calling Arkansas home. She was an animal lover first and foremost, particularly of horses. She could always be found at Oaklawn walking and grooming the horses; even the most stubborn and temperamental thoroughbred was no match for her. She attended Henderson University, where she majored in Fine Arts and rushed Phi Sig, creating fun and embarrassing memories that she would retell at every family event.
As an adult, she worked in Community Counseling, helping those in the Hot Springs area before returning to school to become a registered nurse, eventually specializing in dialysis treatment. She was a nurse for 15 years, working long hours to provide care to her patients and their families. Annette was fiercely loyal to her family and friends and would always be their number one defender.
Annette is survived by her daughter Miriam; her mother Ruth Frost Baldwin; her sisters Valerie Phillips and Linda Evensen; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; and friends too numerous to name who will miss her stories. She was welcomed into Heaven by her father, Lynus Baldwin.
A visitation celebrating Annette’s Life will be held at Gross Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23, from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Sunshine Therapeutic Riding Center, local mental health advocacy groups, or charities that fund Alzheimer’s research and care.
