She was born in Chicago Illinois on January 18, 1931. In 1942, Barbara moved to Harlingen, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Houston. She was a schoolteacher in Texas and Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her brother Mack Gibbon, sister Ann Gibbon and son Daniel Elliott.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years Bruce Hogan; children George Elliott and Lee Ward; grandchildren Tara, Callan, Summer; and sister Johanna Gibbons.
Barbara served as an instructor of computer for the Area Agency on Aging. She was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Catherine Circle and served as an interpreter for international mission trips.

A celebration of life service will be held in the future.
