Betty Jean Burroughs, 90, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away Friday, November 7th, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family; and as a believer in Jesus Christ, is now a resident of Heaven! She was born November 11th, 1923 in Prescott, Arkansas to the late John and Sara Cornelius Wilson. Betty was a very loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a woman of God, and adored her church family at Oaklawn United Methodist Church where she was active in the “Builders” Sunday school class, and the Lydia Circle. After retiring from teaching school, Betty remained a member of the Arkansas and National Education Association’s. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elster Burroughs. Cherishing her memory are two son’s and daughters-in-law, Mike and Cathy Burroughs of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Dr. Dale and Julie Burroughs of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Jon (Dana), and Ali Burroughs; one great-grandson, Gavin Marsh; sister, Emma Nell Grifford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 11th, 2014 at Oaklawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Hunter officiating under the direction of Gross Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at Oaklawn United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary Crumby, Toni Buckley, and Tina Nellum for the extra special care they gave to Betty over the last few months.
