

Betty L. Godbehere, 90, of Hot Springs passed peacefully on April 4, 2016. She was born June 29, 1925 in Rochester, New York to the late Edward T. Piper and Marie J. Piper, she was the eldest of three children.
Betty grew up in Rochester and lived there until 1946 when her family moved to Hot Springs. She moved to Dallas, Texas to work and met Lloyd L. Godbehere. They were married on October 20, 1950, a marriage that exceeded 55 years.
Survivors are her son, Joe Ed Godbehere (Sandy); grandchildren, Casey Kines (Cory), Matt Godbehere (Anna); great-grandchildren, Avery McBride, Wyatt McBride and their father Jared McBride, Jude Godbehere; sister, Ann Givens and nephews Scott Givens and Mark Givens.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd L. Godbehere and her sister Marian L. Piper. She was employed at General Motors in Jones Mills, Arkansas in 1954 until the plant closed in 1966. From then until 2000 she was the cashier and bookkeeper at the family business, Lloyd L. Godbehere Auction Co.
Betty enjoyed being with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She always wanted to cook and give to others and was known for her “sweets”. Betty was always “on the go” whether it was around town, on bus trips or cruises.
Betty was very dedicated in her Catholic faith and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and part of the Good Samaritan Circle of the St. John’s Council of Women.
The family would like thank caregivers Linda Oligney, Krista Ward and the nurses at St. Vincent's ICU-3. They would also like to extend a special thank you to her friend Kathy Jordan and her friends at Country Club Village.
