Catherine Lane

Catherine Lucille Lane, age 95, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab in Hot Springs, AR. She was born on January 28, 1928, in Hot Springs, AR, the daughter of Leonard and Dona Smith. She attended Lakeside School and married Augustine Lane on June 15, 1943. She was Baptist in faith.

She is survived by Three daughters; Vicky (Aubrey) Gurley of Beech Bluff, TN, Suzette (Lonnie) Tadlock of Hot Springs, AR, Patsy (Dave) Stanage of Hot Springs, AR, two sons: Steven (Donna) Lane of Longview, TX, and Joseph (Jenny) Lane of Jackson, TN, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband, and one grandson, Bobby Jones.

Catherine was a lifelong homemaker and wonderful mother to her family. She enjoyed yard work, planting flowers, shopping, yard sales, bird watching, cooking, and The Arkansas Razorbacks. She was known to be strict and disciplined and always shared the shortcomings that life dealt her. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and mother and always loved a new addition to the family. Catherine cherished the opportunity to visit with her family and what is remembered most is how much she loved to cook and to prepare meals for them whether they were coming or going. Along with missing her great meals, mother’s infectious laugh, quick wit, and wiliness to always entertain us are the everlasting memories of her.

The family wants to express their sincere gratitude for nurses and staff at Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab in making mother comfortable. A special thank you to caregivers Betty Lane and Ms. Lorie for their selfless love and care for Granny Lane. Also, the home health care and daily administering of love and care given by her two daughters, Suzette and Patsy was immeasurable.

SERVICE: In honoring her wishes, Catherine will be cremated and there will be a private family Inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery to celebrate her life.
