Christine "Chris" Janaskie was born on February 20, 1959, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, to Franklin J. and Mary C. Janaskie. Chris passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Mary J. Wise.
Chris is survived by her siblings, Suzan C. Davis (Tom), Candis Oliver (John), Linda Stubbs (Mike), and Franklin Janaskie Jr. (Lynn). She is also survived by her nephews, Matt Davis (Kate), Justin Janaskie (Laura), Andrew Davis, and Sean-Michael Stubbs (Makenzie); and her nieces, Elizabeth Williams (Jacob) and Kaitlin Raines (Dustin).
Also left to cherish her memory are her great-nieces and great-nephews: Mary Evelyn, Margaret, and John Peter Davis; Nicholas and Helen Williams; Luca and Matteo Janaskie; and Adaleigh, Brady, and Hallie Raines.
Chris is also survived by her best friend of more than 50 years—her "bonus sister"—Cindy Greenlee Hancock, and her beloved fur baby, Little Bit.
Chris was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology from UAMS and went on to become a certified Mammography Technologist.
Chris loved her family dearly and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She adored her fur babies and was a voracious reader, especially enjoying the works of Stephen King. Chris also loved traveling internationally, including to France and Russia, and was a lifelong Beatles fan who enjoyed listening to the classics.
Chris never measured life by the number of people she knew, but by the depth of the relationships she built. Her circle may have been small, but it was built on trust, loyalty, and love. She was unwaveringly loyal to those she loved and never hesitated to stand beside them.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Garland County in Chris's honor.
