Erselle was one of my 34 first cousins on my mother's side of the family. Many have passed on. I believe Erselle was welcomed to
Heaven by an astonishing number of souls who knew and loved her.

I worked with Erselle at the Mexico-Audrain County Library when she was the Children's Services librarian. She was a wonderful to work with and was an accomplished artist. She had a kind spirit about her and was always willing to help others. One of the items that she painted was a portrait of the Mexico Library and gifted it to Violet Lierheimer. Violet gifted the portrait to me when I was named director two years ago and it is on display in my office at work. My prayers go out to her daughters and family.

It’s been over 60 years since we saw each other last. But cousins still remember the growing up days. Thank you for sharing the old pictures, they brought back good memories of fun times at the Mathews house.

Erselle was one of the most selfless, loving women I’ve ever known. She was so much fun to talk to and always had so many interesting stories to tell. She was also an amazing artist. I had the privilege to see her paint and listen to her thought process as she did it. So gifted! One of the most special weddings gifts we received was a personal painting she made of the wine bottle and glasses we used at our rehearsal dinner. It is still hanging in my home today. I love you and miss you Aunt Selle!!!!!

My grandmother was the definition of grace, class, and style. She was soft spoken and kind. She also knew how to get her point across. I learned so many things from her about how to be a lady. The last of the true southern belles. I love you ma'maw.

So sorry to hear of Erselle's passing. I was in the same 1957 class at Lake Hamilton High School. She was a good friend to me. She was such a talented person. I have many good memories of Erselle. I remember being at a bunking party at Erselle's home. We stayed in one of the little cabins behind her parent's store. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you.
