Ernest "Butch" Leo Bailey
December 12, 1949 – July 27, 2020
Ernest Leo “Butch” Bailey, 70, passed peacefully July 27, 2020.
Butch was the fourth of seven children born to the late William Thomas and Mary Alice Holder Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela; and brother, Charles.
Butch was a well-loved groomer who followed the horse-racing circuit for many years. He was known for his wild horse stories, occasional jokes, love of a good prank, singing- whenever anyone would let him, and most especially his generous heart. Butch loved his family and was adored by his friends.
Butch will be missed most by his daughter, Tammy Sheely (Shawn)of Indiana; his grandchildren, Alison and Anthony, whose pictures and laughter brought Butch so much joy; his Michigan children, Mark and Wanda, whom he thought about everyday; his siblings Dosha, Brenda, Tom, Glen and Dallas; his sister-in-law Rosa; and his many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Butch’s life will be held August 1, 2020 at 11 am at the Salvation Army Church, 115 Crescent Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901.

My heart goes out to the Bailey family. It seems like you have lost so many within your family. I just today(8-2) found out that Butch had passed away. Prayers go out to all that is related to Butch and may you heal quickly from losing two people so close together this summer. Jr had told me all kinds of stories that he & Butch would pull when they were together as kids. I don't know what to say because I'm in total shock after finding this obituary. Love and prayers to all of my second family, the Bailey's.

My favorite memories are of the joy that Dad had seeing his grandkids and playing with them when we visited. Even in his last few days, when there wasn't much left in him, pictures of the kids lit his face up. I was fortunate enough to have the extra time with him and will remember him for man we saw him as; kind, loving, compassionate for others and hopeful! You will be missed. ❤

Butch is my fist cousin and we were born the same year. I have lots of memories of Butch in his grade school years. He had memories also. He would remind me of the time we walked home from Rix School and along the way he picked me velvet flowers and we got in trouble for being late . He loved to sing the old songs and would just break out in singing when he got the notion. He loved cowboy hats, shirts and boots. One time he stayed at my house a short while and we talked of those days gone by and laughed and laughed. I know he has got that 'Mansion Over The Hill Top" now he sang about. We will miss you and love you Butch. Prayers and Love to our Bailey Family
