October 11, 1938 - October 13, 2026
Ernestine Walker Roper, born October 11, 1938, in Okemah, Oklahoma, lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and an appreciation for the special things that make life meaningful. She spent most of her life in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a community she called home for many years.
Ernestine graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1956. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she spent most of her adult life working in the furniture business, where her strong work ethic and determination were evident throughout her career.
Outside of work, Ernestine had a special love for collecting antiques and discovering unique treasures and special “finds.” She also treasured her involvement in Beta Sigma Phi, where she enjoyed the fellowship and friendships that came with being part of the organization.
Above all, Ernestine was devoted to her family. Her children, grandchildren, and siblings were a source of great love and commitment in her life. Her love, presence, and the memories she created with her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Walker; her siblings, Charles Walker, Robert Walker, Brenda Walker, and Donald Walker; and her great-niece, Kennedy Hogue.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Jackelyn Harris and Kelly Harris Hammonds and her husband, Ethan; her three grandchildren, Eric Harris, Jordan Harris, and Ryan Thibault and his partner, Peyton Roushia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will continue to hold her memory close to their hearts.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to The Caring Place and Dierksen Hospice for the compassion and care shown to Ernestine. Their support and dedication are deeply appreciated.
A memorial service with family and friends will follow soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Caring Place, 101 Quapaw Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901, in recognition of the care and kindness Ernestine received.
Ernestine will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her love of discovering treasured keepsakes, her dedication to her family, and the relationships she built throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the memories she leaves behind, and the lasting impact she made on those who knew her will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
