1955-2019
Gerald Allen Ashmore, known to family and friends as “Bud”, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on June 13, 2019.
Born in Stuttgart, AR, on November 7, 1955, Bud grew up on the river in Clarendon, AR. Bud lived in Kansas City, MO starting in the early 1980s, and moved to Hot Springs, AR to be closer to family. Bud was a passionate outdoorsman, hunting with both friends and family. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Bud was also awarded the Citizen of the Year in 2013 by the Brethren of the Hot Springs Freemasons, Lodge #62. He was a licensed funeral director and served in funeral homes for more than 20 years, was a salesman, and worked for the US Forest Service for over a decade. While at the US Forest Service, Bud spent over a decade with Job Corps, a position he was most passionate about. For over 19 years, Bud was a dedicated patron of Alcoholics Anonymous located on Sellers Street in Hot Springs, AR.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Millie Ashmore. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Anna L. Kelsay Ashmore, married on April 21, 1983, as well as their children, Cody & his wife A.D., and Kyle. He is also survived by his older siblings, Sue and Steve & his wife Jessica.
We will celebrate Bud’s life with a visitation and funeral service on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Gross Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.
