Goldie Victoria Lair

April 2, 1932August 12, 2019

Goldie Victoria Lair, 87, of Hot Springs was born in Louisiana to the late Judge and Jessie Williamson Knighten. The date of her birth is another matter- though she was born the day after April fool’s day, the doctor signed the certificate the following Monday, April 6, making that date her legal birthday. It was an often told story and sometime argument which birthday was true.

She was welcomed to Heaven by her parents and grandson, Marcus Wagner.

Goldie was the sister of many, but is survived by a lone sister, Betty (Bill) Head of Louisiana.

Her hands cared for the sick, quilted blankets, and prayed to the Lord. A woman of great faith, she loved to share the word and spoke to the Lord daily about the love she had for her children Deloris “Dosie” Smith (Paul), Mark Wagner (Billie Jo), and Kenny Wagner (Sue); her nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Many of her grandchildren will remember fishing, hiking, camping, and swimming adventures where Goldie shared her love of God’s beautiful creation.

Her granddaughter, Deidra, and her wife Julie, provided Goldie with dignity and comfort during her final years. And during her last weeks, the family is thankful for the care she received from Hospice of Central Arkansas. Goldie was a longtime client of The Caring Place and grew to love the staff as a second family.

Marcus and I loved our summers in Hot Springs with Granny Goldie, Aunt Dosie, Doug and Diedra. I love to reflect on swimming and fishing trips. Granny teaching me how to quilt. And catching lightening bugs. And the singing....boy did we sing. Go rest High Granny! Take care of my bubba for me. I love you!
