Gracie Parthenie Blake Guinn lived a wonderful dash.
Gracie was born February 14, 1931 in Avant, Arkansas. Her mother was Nancy Victoria Godwin Blake and her father was John Randolph Blake.
Gracie was one of eleven children born to John and Nancy Blake. Eight of the children grew to adulthood.
Gracie married Clyde Guinn November 15, 1948. They had four children: Jerry Guinn, Larry Guinn, Gwen Donaldson, and Steven Guinn.
Gracie and Clyde worked hard for many years in the grapes and oranges in California. They moved back to Arkansas upon retirement and enjoyed their time with family and friends at their cabin in Avant. Gracie was an excellent cook, especially of her famous fried pies. She was a great mom, grandmom, wife, aunt, and sister. Gracie loved the Lord and lifted her voice in song every Sunday, often led by Clyde, as song leader. Gracie lived a life according to her name. She lived a life of grace, love, kindness, humility, honesty, and truth. Gracie not only talked the talk, she walked the walk in her faith.
Gracie’s faith helped her through many sad and trying times in her life. She was carried through those times by her true belief in Jesus and the Hereafter.
Gracie left this world for her forever Home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Guinn; her son, Jerry Guinn; her son, Larry Guinn; and her daughter, Gwen Donaldson. Also preceding her were her siblings: Odell Blake, Claude Blake, Novella Blake Morrison, Mary Blake Woods, Desbi Blake Miller, Jay Blake, and infant siblings Lois June, LeRoy, and Esbi.
Gracie is survived by her son, Steven Guinn; her sister, Jessie Blake Horton; grandchildren Brian (Mindy) Nunes and Brian Scott Guinn; great grandchildren Chloe Chapman, Tristan Nunes, Maddie Guinn and others; son-in-law Ray Donaldson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Graveside services for Gracie Guinn will be Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 2 pm at Avant Cemetery, officiated by Jim Blake. Pallbearers are Elmer Fisher, Coy Horton, Danny Horton, Muryl Fisher, Kurt Fisher, and Dwight Godwin.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Gideon International in honor of Gracie would be appreciated. Online at gideons.org or Gideons, 225 Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs National Park, AR, 71901.
Gracie’s ‘dash’ was one of honor, faith, love, and truth. She will be sorely missed in this world, but her beginning of forever is even now being rejoiced.
Rest in love Gracie Parthenie Blake Guinn.
