Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Jack Eatinger moved on from this world after a short battle with AML on August 27, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann (Kulik) Eatinger and Harold Charles Eatinger of Dundee, IL, his sister Kathleen Shimanek, and baby son Patrick Charles.
Jack loved his family, football, and golf. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he played football and lettered in boxing. After graduating he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he achieved the level of Captain before leaving to become a football coach. His career as a college and high school football coach spanned more than 40 years. His passion for golf was rewarded with achieving a hole-in-one. He was active in his church and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus fraternal service order. His favorite places to travel were places where he could visit and spend time with his family members and play some golf. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as honorable, good, strong, coach, mentor, teacher, patriot, veteran, and saddle pal.
He will be missed most by his cherished wife of 56 years Jeannette (Jean) of Hot Springs Village, AR, his son JJ (Stacey) Baton Rouge, LA, and four daughters Nicki Eatinger-Sprague Columbia, MO, Gusti Lamb (Jeff) Lee’s Summit, MO, Mikki Lutz (Bryan) Jonesboro, AR, Charli Johnsos (Peter) Batavia, IL, his 19 grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild, his brothers Richard (Karen) San Jose, CA and Gary (Marge) Huntley, IL.
A memorial mass will be held on September 8, at 3:00 pm, rosary will begin at 2:30 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, AR followed by a reception in the parish hall. His interment of ashes will be at a later date in the Barrancas National Military Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
