James Meredith Burnett, age 75, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was born on June 6, 1943, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to James Matthew Burnett and Lola Mae Bates Burnett. He is preceded in death by his both parents, two sisters, Patsy Weiss and Nancy Burnett; brother, Bob Burnett; son-in-law, Sam Rutledge; and two nieces, Roberta Burnett and Tina Hargrove-Kipp.
He loved the Lord and was a Baptist in faith. A 1964 graduate of Hot Springs High School, he eventually retired from ChemFab after many years of faithful service. He loved spending time with his family and woodworking. His hands could build most anything, from playhouses to wooden chests.
Left to cherish James’ legacy is his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Carol Glenn Burnett; two daughters, Carol Rutledge of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Joyce Covey (Sam Richards) of Hot Springs; sister, Wanda Sanders (Elbert) of Washington State; two grandchildren, Patrick Covey of Hot Springs and Benjamin Rutledge of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Tommy Glenn; two sisters-in-law, Judy Glenn and Bessie Burnett, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends
Per James’ wishes, no formal remembrance services will be conducted.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Gross Funeral Home.
In lieu of customary condolences and other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Garland County Humane Society at P.O. Box 1484
