James (Jim) Glen Cunningham, 90, was born on February 13, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Jesse Byron Cunningham and Blanche Mae Galley Cunningham both from farms near Dawson, Pennsylvania. They were from families dating back to pre-revolutionary times.
Jim died on Thursday morning, March 5, 2020 at his home in Hot Springs Village.
He was married to his wife and full time partner Mary Owen for 41 years. Together they raised seven children. Jim Spend 35 years with Patterson Dental Company. He was transferred seven times, starting in southern California and ending in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In the spring of 1995, Mary and Jim moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, which became a special home for them with many opportunities for friendships and service at Faith Lutheran Church, Lutheran Braille Workers, Kiwanis International, Meals on Wheels, mentoring young students, bell ringing, and a number of fundraisers. Ahh and golf! Which, as the years went by, became a game better known as “flog”. Mary and Jim have seven children; Rick (Lisa), Jeff (Lynn), Ed (Kelli), Beth (Scott), Melody (Todd), Glen (Marcus), and Paul (Terra), who have blessed Jim and Mary with seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Our close and loving family, God given, has always been our great treasure. The Cunningham families have had many reunions, which have helped them draw into a tighter circle.
Jim’s faith is told in many Bible verses. The two verses, which were special to him, are:
Job 19:25-27- Jim knew that his redeemer lives and that in the end He will stand upon the Earth, and after his skin had been destroyed, yet in his flesh, he has seen God; Jim himself has seen Him with his own eyes. Jim, and not another. How his heart yearns within him.
Revelation 7:9-10—After this Jim looked and there before him was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb.
Memorial services will be 10:30 Am, Saturday March 14, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church-Hot Springs Village with Rev. Robert Benke officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Faith Lutheran Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at Faith Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran Braille Workers, Arkansas Hospice, or Faith Lutheran Church.
