After graduating from Mountain Pine High School in 1957, Jerry attended Henderson State Teachers College excelling in basketball and in the ROTC program. While attending college, Jerry married the love of his life, Madge, in 1960. After graduating with a bachelor's degree and master's degree, Jerry enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Monroe, VA. After four years of service, both active and reserve, he was discharged as a Captain. Furthering his education, Jerry attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, earning an Educational Specialist Degree.
Professionally, Jerry served the public and children of Arkansas as a coach, teacher, counselor, superintendent, and member of The Arkansas Department of Education until his retirement.
Personally, Jerry cherished God and faith above all else. His devotion to God, Madge, children, and grandchildren was paramount in his life. He served as a Deacon in several Baptist Churches in Arkansas, an honor of which he was very proud. Both he and Madge were members of First Baptist Church in Hot Springs. Never one to meet a stranger, his joking demeanor and quick wit would lead to many long and wonderful conversations, especially with his Sam’s Club Dog Days friends. Loving deeply, laughing often, and joyous in faith, Jerry defined what a Godly husband, father, and friend is.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Madge, son Bret and wife Beth, son Kyle and wife Jennifer, daughter Marcy Davis and husband Carl, brother Jim Paul, and numerous grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and gifts contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church in Hot Springs. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.GrossFuneralHome.com for the Franks family.
