Joyce Stark, of the community of Royal Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Born to Harriet and Gerald Snyder on May 14, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, Joyce would later make her mark in Hot Springs after relocating in her late 30s.
For over 30 years, Joyce owned and managed Shady Haven bar, where she not only served her patrons but also built lasting friendships that felt as close as family. Her zest for life was apparent in everything she did, particularly in her love for camping and the great outdoors.
Joyce was a proud supporter of her brother, Larry Snyder, a jockey, frequently cheering him on at Oaklawn Park.
Joyce's spirit lives on through her devoted daughters, Sandy Applegate, Pam Cooper, Terry Harris (Dan), and Michelle Bigelow, alongside her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Snyder and Harriet Sobiniak, her siblings Gerald Snyder, Mary Nigswander, and Larry Snyder, and her two sons, Daniel Cooper and Nick Harrison.
She leaves behind many cherished friends, including Mike Hildabrant, Melvin Brock, Timothy McLennon, and Speck Wishman, along with countless others who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
The family wants to give thanks to Arkansas Hospice.
Joyce Stark will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, friendship, and community will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
