L.A. was born on January 21, 1932 in Warren, Arkansas to the late Barney and Kathleene Williams. He was the oldest of nine children. He grew up in Fordyce and was a 1951 graduate of Fordyce High School.
He was employed in the construction industry all of his life and ended his career at Arnold & Associates, a Hot Springs architectural firm, where he was employed from 1991 until his retirement in 2013. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, putting together puzzles and volunteering at CHI St. Vincent. He was a faithful member of the Jordan Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Williams of Hot Springs; a son, former County Judge Larry Williams of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Duke (Ellen) Haight of Hot Springs and Byron (Sharla) Haight of Oklahoma City, OK; a step daughter Susan (Dale) Walbert of Hot Springs; a brother Jimmy Williams of Vidor, TX; and two-half sisters, Emily Ruth (Ronnie) Franks and Connie Andrepont both of Lumberton, TX; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. L.A. was predeceased by his first wife the late Jean Campbell Williams; a daughter, Debbie Burcham; two brothers, Billy Joe Williams and Johnny Williams and three sisters, Dale LaCombe, Rose Black and Barbara Williams.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Hot Springs at 9:30 am on Friday and a memorial service will follow at 10:00 am.
