Marie Merritt

June 14, 1954 – December 19, 2025

Lelia Marie Merritt, 71, of Hot Springs, passed away unexpectedly at her home on November 19th, 2025. Preceding her in death are her father and mother, Bobby and Jerri Henderson, and a brother, Carl Henderson.

Marie leaves behind two children whom she adored. A son, Dustin (Leslie) Howard, and a daughter Kayla (Matthew) Coffman. She was a proud Meme to Eli and Eliza Howard and Killian, Dorian, Azariel, and Xavior Coffman. The caring sister to her brother, Kenny, and her sister- in- law, Sherry Henderson. Her family was her greatest joy in life.

For 37 years, Marie was a loyal employee at Selected Funeral and Life Insurance where she was known for her infectious smile, boisterous personality, and her kind-hearted nature. Her presence was missed after she retired in April of 2022. Marie embraced her newfound freedom with enthusiasm and passion. She quickly fell in love with the game of pickleball and made many new friends at the YMCA.

Marie’s faith in Christ guided her throughout her life; she strived to be the kindest, most compassionate version of herself. She loved unconditionally, never met a stranger, and had the biggest heart for animals.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at New Life Church in Hot Springs on December 10th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Humane Society of Garland County in her honor.

Marie’s legacy will live on in the laughter, love, and memories she gifted to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered with joy.
