Mary E. Echols

Mary Edith retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in October, 1990, where she had worked as a surgical nurse for over 25. She loved nursing, as well as, the doctors and nurses who shared her devotion. She also enjoyed playing cards and dancing.

Mary Edith attended First Baptist Church in Hot Springs.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alma Bumgardner; her son, Ernest Roy “Butch” Echols; and her sister, Anita Thompson.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Head, of Hot Springs; her granddaughter, Brandee and husband Jeff Scott; her grandson, Anthony and wife Stephanie Echols of Tulsa; three step grandchildren, Crisann Biffle of Indianapolis, Steve Head of Memphis and Mike Head of Las Vegas plus two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their grateful thanks to the dedicated staff at Quapaw Rehab.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
