Mary Jane was born October 27, 1936 in Newark N.J. to Louis and Mary (Cuthbertson) Itzel. Her father died when she was 4 years old and she and her mother moved to Houston, Texas when she was 16, to be closer to her sister Dorothy and her family.
Mary Jane graduated from San Jacinto High School and went to work Prudential Insurance Co., where she met her loving husband of 58 years, Leonard Wooten. Len’s Job with Aetna Ins. Co. took them first to Louisville, KY and then to Hartford, CT. When Len took early retirement they bought the Circle H Guest Ranch in Granite, CO. When they sold the ranch they made Hot Springs their home.
Mary Jane worked at Hawke Veterinary Hospital as a bookkeeper/ receptionist/sales clerk/dog walker (and if necessary) cage cleaner. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the Garland County Library, had a green thumb, and loved to bake. She and Len loved to travel and visited many great places; Cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, the Greek Isles, Mexico, Turkey, Greece, a South American Land and Cruise, Switzerland and their favorite, Italy with their children.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents, sister Dorothy, and her husband Len.
Survivors include her daughters Tracy Sublett (Howard) of Hot Springs, Robin Montenieri (John) of Loveland, CO; Grandchildren Austin (Sarah) Sublett, Logan (Taylor) Sublett, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Gross Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. There will be a private burial at Hollywood Cemetery in Hot Springs for the family.
